A 32-year-old Manhattan woman was arrested on October 22, 2024, following an incident that occurred around 3:20 p.m. in the 400 block of Walters Drive. Officers responded to reports that the woman had trespassed on private property and assaulted a 35-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man. Tiffany Ryals was taken into custody and is facing charges that include criminal trespass, possession of drug paraphernalia, interference with a law enforcement officer, and battery on a law enforcement officer. She was issued a total bond of $15,000 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

In runaway fashion, the Manhattan High girls’ golf squad clinched the state championship title, carding a team total of 593 strokes — 29 strokes ahead of runner-up Shawnee Mission East. The cost of living for K-State students increased this year but generally remained consistent with national inflation rates, according to a report by a student group at the university. The K-State Economics Club’s 2024 Student Price Index reflects a 3.1% jump in student cost of living compared to a 2.4% average increase nationwide based on the Consumer Price Index. However, “core inflation” — which ignores volatile price changes in food and energy — amounts to 3.3%, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The clay pigeons were flying over the weekend as 135 of the best high school trap shooters in the state flocked to Tuttle Creek Shooting Park just outside of Manhattan for its third annual Youth Shooting Invitational on Saturday. The victim, a 76-year-old man, reported that an unknown individual obtained his personal information, leading to a financial loss of $6,600.
