An Ogden man is jailed on a long list of suspected drug-related offenses, following his Tuesday arrest in the Candlewood Shopping Center. The Riley County Police Department says 54-year-old Dean Garvin faces 13 total charges. They include two counts each of distributing narcotics and possessing heroin or fentanyl with intent to distribute, as well as additional paraphernalia and marijuana charges. Garvin also was booked on suspicion of using a communication device in the commission of a felony drug crime. Garvin’s total bond is set at $50,000.

Officers executed a search warrant in the 2000 block of Seaton Ave. at approximately 10:53 a.m. on Nov. 25, 2025. As a result, officers filed a report for possession of paraphernalia with intent to manufacture/plant/cultivate controlled substance, use/possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia in the human body, and possession of opiate/opium/narcotic or certain stimulant. Mike Marsh, the longtime athletic director at Manhattan High School, announced his retirement at last week’s USD 383 board meeting. Marsh’s retirement comes after over 25 years working for the district, and more as a student. He first worked for the district in 2000 as assistant athletics director and administrative assistant at the former MHS East Campus. He has held his current position since April 2004, shortly after he became assistant principal in 2003 at MHS East. By Emma Loura Former Fort Riley soldier was sentenced Monday to 13 years and 10 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections. In September, Joshue Sandoval Serrano, 23, was found guilty of rape and two counts of aggravated sexual battery. Judge Grant Bannister in Riley County District Court sentenced Serrano to 166 months for the count of rape and 32 months for each count of aggravated sexual battery. Seth Child Road on a pair of Riley County District Court warrants for failure to appear. This arrest stems from original charges of criminal restraint, battery of a law enforcement officer, domestic battery and battery of a health care provider. Forecasters continue to monitor a late-week weather system that could bring rain and snow to parts of northeast Kansas from Friday into Saturday, though the highest impacts are currently projected farther northeast.
