A panel of general officers found an Army colonel guilty of sexually abusing three adolescents he knew during his court-martial Nov. 6 at the Fort Leavenworth Courtroom. Some of the earliest abuse occurred at Fort Riley. Col. Scott C. Nauman, 53, an infantry officer assigned to the Special Troops Battalion, Combined Arms Command, was sentenced by the military judge to 28 years in prison and dismissal from the Army. The Riley County Police Department made two drug-related arrests Wednesday in unrelated cases. In the first incident, officers arrested 32-year-old Theresa Cleveland of Manhattan around 12:06 p.m. Nov. 19 in the 100 block of Courthouse Plaza. Cleveland was taken into custody on a Saline County District Court warrant listing charges of possession of opiate, opium, narcotic or certain stimulant; possession of marijuana with two or more prior convictions; aggravated endangering of a child; and use or possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia. She was issued a total bond of $5,000 and is no longer confined in the Riley County…
A Manhattan man was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon on a warrant stemming from an incident reported earlier this year. Riley County Police say officers originally filed a report on May 21 around 11:30 a.m. in the 7700 block of Stockdale Park Road for aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer and criminal threat. On Nov. 19, officers arrested 82-year-old Edward Doyle in the 100 block of Courthouse Plaza on a Riley County District Court warrant related to those charges. Doyle was issued a total bond of $15,000 and is no longer confined in the Riley County Jail.
A Manhattan man was arrested Wednesday afternoon on a series of drug-related charges as well as a domestic battery count. Riley County Police say 24-year-old Donte Long was taken into custody around 4:10 p.m. Nov. 19 in the 900 block of North Seth Child Road. Officers filed the report around 8:35 p.m. Nov. 19 in the 300 block of Tuttle Creek Boulevard. Store staff reported that an unknown male suspect and an unknown female suspect stole two Samsung tablets. The total loss is listed at $1,119.97.
