Officers filed a report for aggravated burglary in the 2200 block of College Ave. on March 3, 2017 at approximately 11:00 AM. Officers listed Nicholas Jones, 22, of Manhattan, Jacob Biller, 20, of Manhattan, TK Mcwhertor, 21, of Manhattan, Samuel Chadick, 20, of Manahttan, and Justin Keskett, 20, of Manhattan, as victims when they reported that an unknown suspect entered their apartments during the night and took money from them. A structure fire at Timber Creek caused substantial damage Sunday night. According to Blue Township Fire chief John Stamey, Shortly before 8 PM Sunday, Blue Township Fire along with Pottawatomie County Consolidated Fire responded to the 2000 block of Timber Creek Drive. The first arriving units found and extinguished a fire that involved the laundry room and bathroom. An investigation concluded that the the fire started in the clothes dryer. LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) A former para-educator for the Lawrence school district has been convicted of sexually abusing one of her students. A Douglas County jury on Friday found 34-year-old Teri Lynn Johnson, of Baldwin City, guilty of unlawful sexual relations, sexual exploitation of a child and promoting obscenity to minors. The Lawrence Journal-World reports her victim, who is now an adult, testified during the trial that he met Johnson while he was a student at the Douglas County Juvenile Detention Center’s Day School. The Manhattan High boys basketball team overcame a final-minute deficit to beat Washburn Rural Friday night, 47-45, and clinch the Indians’ first trip to the 6A state tournament since 2008. LENEXA — A modern day cattle roundup shut down traffic ramps on a busy section of Kansas highways in Johnson County. The Kansas Department of Transportation closed ramps about noon Friday near Kansas 10 and Interstate 435 after an semi-trailer truck overturned on the westbound Interstate 35 lanes to Kansas 10, releasing dozens of cows. At one point, between 55 and 60 cows were running loose. Several law enforcement agencies were involved in the roundup.
