One person was injured Sunday evening following a head on crash near Junction City High School. According to the Geary County Sheriff’s Office, a passenger car and a pickup collided at the intersection of K-18 and North Ritter Road at around 6 p.m. Authorities say the driver of the passenger car, Jeremias Wilcox, of Junction City, failed to yield to oncoming traffic, causing the crash. The other driver, Joshua Zumbrunn, of Wakefield, was transported to Stormont Vail for medical evaluation. No further information was provided. Click here for more local news.

Staff reports Despite losing its nine-game win streak in an 18-inning battle with McPherson on Friday, Wamego softball is still in a great position after bouncing back with a split against Silver Lake on Tuesday. The Red Raiders (10-3) remained third in 4A East, only trailing 16-1 Eudora and 8-2 Atchison. Against Concordia, Wamego won 11-0 and 19-1. Riley County Police reported a variety of incidents and arrests over the weekend, including several traffic accidents, threats, and arrests for criminal behavior. Among the 16 incidents documented, one injury accident occurred in the 800 block of Anneberg Circle on May 3. Officers also responded to three non-injury accidents, a criminal threat at Colonial Gardens Mobile Home Park, a reported suicide on May 4, and a trespassing call at Dirty Dawgs Saloon. The Riley County Police Department responded to a variety of incidents and made several arrests between May 2 and May 3. Among the 21 incidents reported, officers investigated two non-injury accidents, a stolen vehicle, domestic disputes, drug-related activity, and a sex offense. A reported unattended death occurred on the morning of May 3 on Tatarrax Drive in Manhattan. Other calls included an assault near N. 11th Street and Vattier, multiple instances of found property, and reports of disorderly conduct and larceny. Kansas State assistant track and field coach and Olympic gold medalist Tara Davis-Woodhall and her husband, gold-medal winning Paralympian Hunter Woodhall, both got a chance to show open the season at the same meet last weekend when the Wildcats traveled to Des Moines, Iowa, to compete in the Drake Relays.
