Michael Boller, the county’s director of noxious weeds and household hazardous waste, told the Riley County commission Thursday evening that people should spray for the biennial weed this fall to prevent an outbreak this spring. Andrea Freeman, 38, of San Marcos, Texas, was arrested in the 1000 block of S. Seth Child Road on August 1, 2024, at approximately 9:00 AM.  Freeman was arrested on a Riley County District Court warrant for failure to appear. The original charge in this matter was for burglary. Total bond was set at $10,000. Freeman was confined at the time of this report. Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers. The local brewery announced Wednesday it will open an additional permanent location in Wichita later this month. Under the name MBC Lounge, the new location is set to start business Aug. 23 at 117 North Handley Street in the Delano District of Wichita. Laura Kelly said was needed even as the institutions and the government seek ways to keep higher education affordable. Officers filed a report of an injury accident at the corner of Osage and N. 5th St. on July 31, 2024, at approximately 3:01 PM.  Officers reported a 25-year-old male was struck while riding an e-bike by a vehicle driven by an 83-year-old male. The bicyclist, Zackary Murphy, was transported via EMS to Via Christi for his injuries.  He was later life-flighted to Stromont Vail for further treatment of his injuries.
