Another Manhattan man has been sentenced to nearly five years with the Kansas Department of Corrections in connection with a series of robberies in the central portion of Manhattan in September of last year. Sean Johnson was sentenced to 59 months for aggravated robbery Monday in Riley County District Court, the same as Jonathon Elliott, 20, was sentenced this past Friday. A Wamego man was arrested at the Riley County Police Department shortly before 5 on Friday evening. Brian Lee Havens, 36, was arrested for failure to appear. His bond was set at $10,000. A Junction City man was arrested Friday afternoon at the Riley County Police Department. 42-year old Kenneth Fleury Jr. was arrested for a probation violation at approximately 12:28 p.m. He was released on a $5,000 bond. An arrest on Saturday evening sent a local woman to jail. Theresa Lynn Thompson, 46, was taken into custody shortly before 6:30 p.m. in the 2300 block of Stagg Hill Rd. Updated 6 a.m. Tuesday: CIMARRON, Kan. (AP) Authorities say they’re investigating whether an unreported vehicle crash may have damaged the railroad tracks before an Amtrak train derailed in southwest Kansas. Gray County sheriff’s Deputy J.G. Sharp says there was a separate vehicle accident that may have damaged the rails before the passenger train derailed early Monday outside Cimarron. A few people remain hospitalized. Authorities are examining tire tracks leading to the train tracks and preserving the scene with crime scene tape, he said. Kansas State will not return to the hardwood this season. The school announced that it will not accept an invitation to play in a postseason tournament after being left out of the NCAA Tournament and National Invitation Tournament, the fields of which were announced Sunday evening. WICHITA —  More than 90 people could lose their special parking privileges at the airport in Wichita under a measure about to be decided by city leaders. The Wichita Eagle reports the city council is to vote Tuesday on new parking rules at Wichita Eisenhower National Airport. The proposal designates that only Wichita city officials and employees will get the passes allowing for free parking in the airport’s public lots, and even then only when they’re on public business. The Rock Creek boys basketball team capped off another great season on Saturday afternoon with an 85-74 win over top seeded Girard in the third place game at the 4A-II State Tournament in Emporia. The Mustangs finish the year at 22-3 while Girard caps their year at 23-2. The ball game saw 51 total fouls and 69 free throw attempts. A Manhattan man was sentenced to 59 months in the Department of Corrections for aggravated robbery charges Friday afternoon in the Riley County District Courthouse. Jonathon Elliot, 20, made a motion of departure through his defense attorney, Brenda Jordan, and hoped for probation, but Judge David Stutzman sided with the state. Elliot was one of the men responsible for a string of September 2015 robberies which sent the K-State campus into lockdown during that time. Elliot admitted he provided transportation and involvement with the stolen goods. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) received confirmation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of the first person in the state to test positive for Zika virus, according to a press release sent from Topeka to KMAN. The individual is an adult from southwest Kansas and has travel history to a country with local Zika virus transmission.
