A Westmoreland woman was arrested on Wednesday. Wanda Silva, 39,while in the 300 block of 11th Street in Ogden on Wednesday morning. Silva was arrested on a warrant for the offense of failure to appear (original offense of possess opiates, opium, or narcotic drug). She was given a bond of $15,000.  She was not confined at the Riley County Jail. A Manhattan woman was arrested Wednesday. For the last eleven years Superintendent Bob Shannon has led USD 383 to new heights, but last night he said goodbye to the administrators and board members of the Manhattan-Ogden school district. In his final spoken report to the board, Shannon delivered his final end-of-the-year report and talked about the success and challenges presented over the last year. He also reflected on some of the challenges they have overcome in the last 11 years which includes a bond issue and building remodeling. The Kansas Department of Transportation will undergo a leadership change. Governor, Sam Brownback announced Wednesday that KDOT Secretary, Mike King will step down from his post on July 15th. According to a statement from the Governor’s office, former State Representative, Richard Carlson of St. Mary’s will step in as interim Secretary while a search for a permanent is conducted. Carlson was a Pottawatomie County Commissioner for 12 years, prior to being elected as a State Representative in 2004.

Peggy Schmidt is joining the College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University as associate dean for academic programs and student affairs. Schmidt has been a faculty member in veterinary education for 12 years, and served as an academic director for nine. Schmidt currently serves as Director of Outcomes Assessment at Western University of Health Sciences. She is also an associate professor of population health and epidemiology. Schmidt earned a bachelor’s degree in animal science with meat animal emphasis at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in 1993. SALINA — A judge has found sufficient evidence for two people to stand trial in the killing of a Nebraska man in a Salina motel parking lot. The Salina Journal  reports that 21-year-old DiAntre Lemmie and 24-year-old Amber Craig were bound over for trial Tuesday. They are charged in the fatal April shooting of 32-year-old Adonis Loudermilk, of Lincoln, Nebraska. Among the preliminary hearing witnesses was James Faircloth, who tattooed Lemmie at the motel. Faircloth said he heard Craig tell Lemmie that Loudermilk had a “wad” of cash, and that Lemmie vowed to “get that.” Later, Lemmie left the room, and Faircloth…
