On Monday, December 22, 2015 the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residential burglary just North of the intersection of Genn Road and Old Post Road, rural Wamego.  Upon arrival Sheriff Deputies discovered that the residence at this location appeared to have been burglarized.  The suspect or suspects in this incident forced entry into the home and removed Christmas presents and jewelry.  The victims believed the crime occurred between Sunday, December 20th after 5:00 p.m. and before 3:30 p.m. on December 21st.  Damage to the residence and loss from theft may exceed 1000 dollars. SHAWNEE, Kan. (AP) Health regulators say one person who ate at a Chipotle restaurant in Kansas became ill in a new, late November E. coli outbreak that sickened five people in three states. Kansas Department of Health and Environment spokeswoman Sara Belfry said Monday the person ate at Chiptole’s Shawnee Mission Parkway location the week of Nov. 23. No other details were released. Jesus Martinez is a kitchen manager at that location. He says food safety is the top priority right now and managers are watching to make sure staff follows health and safety procedures. LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) A carbon monoxide leak inside a Lawrence gym has sent two people to the hospital. The Lawrence Journal-World reports that emergency responders were called to Genesis Health Club around 7 a.m. Thursday. Firefighters discovered the leak in the gym’s pool area. Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Marshal Jim King says two people exposed to the gas were taken to a local hospital. Further information on their conditions wasn’t immediately available. Gym owner Rodney Steven II says a faulty flue vent connected to boilers that heat the pool caused the leak. He says the vent has been fixed. Steven says…

RCPD is currently investigating an aggravated robbery that took place in Ogden early Monday morning. No injuries were reported when police responded to the Casey’s General Store located at 329 Riley Avenue around 1:20 a.m. after a suspect brandished a firearm, and fled the scene with three packages of cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect in this robbery is described as a white male suspect standing approximately 5 feet 8 inches with a grey Nike headband, winter face cover, dark grey hooded sweatshirt, baggy jeans, and a belt with blue designs on it. Should the Riley County Police Department have a partially self-funded workers compensation plan? That was one matter examined at Monday’s Riley County Law Enforcement Agency Law Board meeting. RCPD Director Brad Schoen indicates the matter is primarily for discussion at this time, with a presentation Monday by Assurance Partners representatives Jim Wilson and Leslie Webb.  Manhattan Assistant City Manager Kiel Mangus was asked to comment during the meeting about the possibility of such a proposal.
