Two children who were reported missing on Wednesday afternoon have since been located. Xander Brandt, 10, and Reagan Eulenstein, 6, were reported missing after not being seen since 4 p.m. in the 700 block of Allen Road near Northview Elementary. According to Riley County Police Public Information officer Matthew Droge the children were seen with friends and did not go straight home. Police canvased the area and set up a command post to coordinate efforts. Police issued the “all clear” shortly before 8 p.m. The children were found safe several blocks from their home.
The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office released new information regarding a Tuesday night accident, Wednesday afternoon. Sheriff Greg Riat told KMAN the vehicle involved in the accident was a 1998 Ford pickup. The injured driver of the vehicle was identified as Jace Suther, 18, of Frankfort. Two passengers identified as Riley Ahlvers, 18, and Matthew Stoddard, 17, both of Frankfort also reported injuries. Suther and Ahlvers were both transported to nearby hospitals. Two arrests have been made in connection with a previously reported armed robbery in Wamego on April 29th 2016 at the Red Raider Express on Spruce Street. This Tuesday, Alec Pierson, 18, from Belvue and James Krauz, 19, from Wamego were arrested without incident. The arrests were a result of an ongoing investigation that was aided by tips provided from the public. Two search warrants were served regarding this incident. KMAN obtained new details in last week’s death of a Manhattan infant, Wednesday afternoon. According to an affidavit of 25-year-old Andrew Gibson’s arrest warrant, three-month-old Serenity Reich was not breathing when police arrived at Gibson’s Stone Drive residence, in Manhattan on May 5. She was transported to Via Christi Medical Center where she was pronounced dead from her injuries. Wyandotte County District Attorney Jerome Gorman scheduled a news conference Wednesday to announce charges against 28-year-old Curtis Ayers, of Tonganoxie, Kansas. Ayers is suspected in the killing of Kansas City, Kansas, Detective Brad Lancaster, who died at a hospital Monday about three hours after being shot during a confrontation near a racetrack. WICHITA, Kan. (AP) A man charged in the slaying of a Wichita couple during a robbery has pleaded guilty. The Wichita Eagle reports that 21-year-old Steven Wade Edwards II pleaded guilty to several charges, including two counts of first-degree murder. The bodies of 70-year-old Martha Moreno and her husband, 72-year-old Godofredo Moreno, were found by their son in their home on Oct. 16, 2014. Police say the couple died of gunshot wounds. Edwards faces a life sentence for the murder charges, and is scheduled to be sentenced on June 21. A 17-year-old has also been charged in the killings.
