Frustration was evident at Wednesday’s Kansas County Commissioners Association meeting being held in Manhattan,  with a panel discussion regarding the property tax lid now required by the state. Under a recently passed state law, city and county governments need to hold a public vote if they want to raise spending by more than an adjusted Consumer Price Index rate. TOPEKA — Kansas is cutting off Medicaid reimbursements to a Planned Parenthood affiliate largely based on allegations against affiliates in other states. The state Department of Health and Environment sent a letter dated Tuesday informing Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri that it was terminating its status as a provider under the state’s Medicaid program. Department spokeswoman Cassie Sparks confirmed the action Wednesday, as did the group. Officers with the Riley County Police Department arrested Dylan Lambert-Perkins, 22, of Manhattan while in the 500 block of Juliette Ave. on May 3, 2016 at approximately 11:00 AM. Lambert-Perkins was arrested on the offense of probation violation which was listed on a warrant with “no bond.” At the time of this report he was confined at the Riley County Jail. RCPD filed a report for the offense of criminal use of a weapon which listed 17-year-old suspect.
