The Presidential Leadership Scholars program presents a unique opportunity to only 60 selected applicants a year. Out of 900 applicants, Regional Liaison Officer Traci Scott with the 1st Infantry Division was chosen for this program. Applicants for the Presidential Leadership Scholars program are expected to have about 10 years prior professional leadership experience, and are selected largely due to their visionary commitment to furthering their leadership horizons. Four seniors from Manhattan High School were invited to be honored by Governor Sam Brownback on May 3, 2015, in Topeka. Madison Urban, Adam Hupp, Reid M. As KMAN reported last month, a shooting incident took place in Aggieville, which resulted in the arrest of Dontay Tabron for aggravated battery and criminal discharge of a firearm. Tabron appeared in Riley County District Court Tuesday afternoon for a status hearing. Tabron’s attorney, Britian Stites asked Judge, William Malcolm to set the matter for a preliminary hearing. Prosecuting State Attorney, Barry Disney said he believes the prelim will take around an hour, but Stites requested an hour and a half. Judge Malcolm set the 1 1/2 hour preliminary hearing for June 5th at 3 p.m.
After an Arizona arrest for sexual exploitation of a child charges, a Leonardville man was brought back to Riley County in March. KMAN has been following the case of John Thomas, who appeared in Riley County District Court for another status hearing Tuesday afternoon. Thomas appeared, via web cam, alongside his attorney, Lora Ingels, who recently took the case over from a different attorney. Judge William Malcolm set the matter for another status hearing, as Ingels wishes to address bond at that time.
