Former Kansas State Wide Receiver Tyler Lockett will go from being a Wildcat to a Seahawk. The two-time defending NFC Champion Seattle Seahawks drafted Lockett with the 69th pick in the third round of the National Football League draft Friday evening in Chicago. Lockett is the first K-State player selected this year and extends the Wildcats draft streak to 22 years, which is the longest active streak in the Big 12 Conference.

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) The Kansas Supreme Court has upheld the first-degree murder conviction of a man who gunned down his wife in front of her children. The Topeka Capital-Journal reports that the court rejected 28-year-old Kishen Woods’ mental health claim. He said he shouldn’t have been found competent to stand trial because he has schizophrenia. Antonia Woods-Cratic died in November 2011. She was in the process of leaving her husband. Woods argued that the court-ordered competency evaluation was flawed. A Kansas Department of Corrections inmate serving time for first degree murder and rape convictions in Geary County is up for July public comment sessions. Oliver Smith, 53, was convicted in connection with the rape and murder cases in 1988. Public comment sessions will be held July 15th at the Derby Police and Courts Building on North Baltimore, July 17th at the Municipal Court House on Southeast Eighth Street in Topeka, and July 27th at City Hall in Kansas City. Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt has sued a group of Texas pavers for violating the Kansas Consumer Protection Act. Between 2011 and 2014, the attorney general’s office received multiple complaints from Kansas consumers who had done business with Bartholomew “Bud” Jude Daley, Fort Worth, Texas; Mike Gorman, Fort Worth, Texas; and Patrick Dougherty, Houston; all of whom were doing business as Pave All Asphalt Paving. Riley County Police made a drug related arrest on Thursday evening at the intersection of Casement Road and Hayes Drive in Manhattan. Leon Houk, 30, of Manhattan was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia at approximately 7 p.m. Bond was set at $6,000. Officers with the Riley County Police Department arrested William Burton Robinson, 31, of Manhattan on several warrants for motion to revoke probation violations. He was arrested on Thursday afternoon at approximately 4:15 p.m. in the 100 block of North 4th Street. Robinson’s bond was set at $6,000.

The Riley County Police Department will conduct a DUI Saturation Patrol Friday. Officers involved in the Saturation Patrol will be looking for signs of impaired driving and other traffic violations. Motorists who show signs of alcohol and/or drug consumption will be evaluated and appropriate enforcement action will be taken. The purpose of the program is to place additional officers in and around the Manhattan area with the goal of detecting and deterring impaired driving. The 3rd Annual Wamego High School Honor Flight returned home after a whirlwind trip to Washington, D. C.  Twenty-five area veterans and 25 Wamego High student guardians,  flew out of Kansas City on April 29th.  Each veteran was paired with a student guardian for the duration of the trip.  They visited the WWII Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Viet Nam Memorial, plus the Arlington National Cemetery and the Tomb of the Unknowns to observe the Changing of the Guard.    A large group greeted the arriving bus.  Once the bus was parked, the student guardians departed the bus first, and as…

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP)– Danny Duffy pitched shutout ball into the eighth and Eric Hosmer hit a two-run homer as the Kansas City Royals beat the Detroit Tigers 8-1 on Thursday night.
