CLEVELAND (AP)– The defending American League champions took a hit Tuesday night, but they weren’t down for long. Kendry Morales’ three-run homer capped a six-run seventh inning and the Kansas City Royals pounded out a season-high 18 hits to beat the Cleveland Indians 11-5 . The Manhattan City Commission reviewed its street pavement management plan Tuesday. The City currently expends approximately two million dollars worth of resources on road work, but according to Director of Public Works, Rob Ott, that number should be nearly doubled in order to maintain the industry standard for overall road quality. “If we want and try and flatten out the deterioration curve of our streets, obviously somewhere between 3 and 4 million that decline is somewhat less,” Ott said. WICHITA, Kan. (AP) A former police chief and three other ex-officers have now been indicted in a gun sale conspiracy at the Bel Aire Police Department. Grand jury indictments handed up Tuesday against ex-chief John R. Daily of Bel Aire and former officer Ricky L. Swanson of Wichita are the two latest in what prosecutors say was a conspiracy to buy discounted firearms. Both were charged with wire fraud and mail fraud. The Leonardville man charged with sexual exploitation of a child charges, after an arrest in Arizona, appeared in Riley County District Court Judge, William Malcolm’s courtroom on Tuesday afternoon for a status hearing. John Thomas appeared in court via web cam alongside his attorney, Larry McRell.  McRell stated he has a meeting with Riley County Police on Friday before he will receive the discovery in this case.  For this reason, he asked that the case be set for another status hearing a couple weeks down the road. The man charged in connection with the shooting incident near Aggieville earlier this month appeared in Riley County District Court Tuesday afternoon, via video camera, for a status hearing. Dontay Tabron appeared in front of Judge William Malcolm for charges of aggravated battery and criminal discharge of a firearm into an occupied dwelling.  As  KMAN has reported, this arrest was made after a verbal altercation in Aggieville, and Tabron’s bond is set at $30,000.
