Riley County Police have released a picture of a possible subject wanted for questioning regarding fraudulent currency.  Earlier this week RCPD warned community members of a potential fraudulent US currency scam involving counterfeit bills. As earlier reported, on Tuesday, officers responded to several reports regarding fraudulent currency at businesses in the Manhattan area which included Pizza Hut (both the Moro Street and Hosteler Drive locations), Little Caesars, Dollar Tree, and Baskin Robins. A trial has begun in the case of a Manhattan man facing charges in connection with an alleged event involving aggravated robbery and stolen marijuana this past July. Trey Campbell, 21, appeared in court Thursday, April 23 in Riley County District Court as Senior Deputy County Attorney Barry Disney called several witnesses to the stand to testify. The state first called upon Ty Suggs, 21, of Manhattan, who is also facing charges of aggravated robbery and conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery in connection with the event. Continuing a previous work session, the Riley County Commission held another capitol improvement project (CIP) work session during their Thursday meeting.  Commissioners viewed the non-funded projects list, which includes both construction projects and equipment purchases. The intention, for commissioners, is to still activate projects and purchases for the current year using CIP funds.  During the previous work session, the commission asked department heads for their top priorities. Budget and Finance Officer, Johnette Shepek mentioned there is just over $592,000 to activate for 2015 projects. Fire near Tuttle Creek Lake in the Swede Creek area has been keeping Riley County Firefighters busy the past few days. Fire Chief Pat Collins tells KMAN the out of control blaze was first reported at 10 Tuesday night, but he’s had as many as 12-15 firefighters on the scene three different times since. Mostly grass and driftwood around the Lake on U-S Army Corps of Engineers property is impacted–but Collins says there’s some concern regarding two or three homes in the area, especially if the wind switches to the south.
