(Photo Courtesy Kansas State Athletics) It wasn’t like Kansas State’s Baseball team didn’t have their chances on Sunday but when the need for the big hit arose, the Wildcats simply just couldn’t produce. K-State stranded 12 runners including leaving the bases loaded in the 5th inning and the tying runs on the base in the 9th as 19th-ranked Texas Tech took the Big 12 series with a 4-1 victory on a drizzly raw afternoon at Tointon Family Stadium. The Red Raiders took a 1-0 lead against Wildcat starter Nate Griep (3-2) on a wind-blown home run to right field by…

KANSAS CITY, Mo.(AP)– Josh Reddick rounded the bases after his three-run homer, celebrated in Oakland’s dugout for just a moment, and then climbed to the top step and waited. He knew exactly what was coming next. Royals pitcher Yordano Ventura promptly plunked A’s third baseman Brett Lawrie with what appeared to be a retaliatory pitch for an incident the previous night, and Reddick and the rest of his teammates spilled onto the field in what could have turned into an ugly melee. Cooler heads prevailed. So did the A’s, who went on to beat Kansas City 5-0 Saturday night. “We…

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP)– The Royals and A’s picked up right where they left off. On Friday night, it nearly turned into punches. In their first meeting since last September’s dramatic wild-card game, Paulo Orlando delivered a go-ahead triple in the eighth inning to help Kansas City to a 6-4 win. The victory nearly came at a big loss for the Royals when shortstop Alcides Escobar was run over by the Athletics’ Brett Lawrie covering second base. The Royals took umbrage with Lawrie’s late slide, and both benches quickly emptied before order was restored. “I can’t judge intent,” said Royals…
