The Seaman USD 345 School District in Topeka recently announced that as a result of the financial ramifications outlined in the block grant funding, they will no longer accept out of district students into their district. This prompted a similar discussion during Wednesday night’s Manhattan Ogden USD 383 school board meeting. Superintendent, Bob Shannon brought the discussion to light during his spoken report. Beth Clarkson is chief statistician for the National Institute for Aviation Research and holds a Ph.D. in statistics. The Geary County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call in reference to an unresponsive individual in the east bound rest area at mile marker 310 on I-70. Deputies, along with Junction City Fire and EMS, responded to the call on Tuesday and located the subject who was unresponsive and lying in the parking area next to a moving van. The Geary County Coroner responded and pronounced the subject dead at the scene. The individual was later identified as Keith Morrison (47) of Aurora, Colorado. LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) Nebraska lawmakers will continue to clash on whether the state or counties should set policies to help develop agriculture. The Legislature sparred Tuesday over a measure that would create statewide standards for livestock producers trying to obtain permits. Advocates say the bill encourages growth in the Nebraska’s top industry by simplifying the permit process for new or expanding operations. Geary County’s Delivering Change: Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies program has expanded to Riley County. “We’re excited to partner with Geary Community Hospital and Geary County and Riley County,” said John Broberg, Senior Administrator for Mercy Regional Health Center.
