Authorities west of Cleveland say a man with a rifle took two firefighters hostage on Wednesday night, when they responded to a fire. The hostages were freed and the man was taken into custody after about two hours.

At the opening of their regular meeting Wednesday night, board members held a moment of silence for the district’s late Director of Maintenance, Keith Noll. Noll passed away unexpectedly last week, and board members spoke of the loss and of their thoughts for his family before moving on to regular business.
