Public comments are welcomed during every Riley County Commission meeting directly following the pledge of allegiance.  Many times, members of the public do not wish to speak, but there are some occasions when local individuals wish to address the commission with concerns or compliments. Kansas State University commencement ceremonies will be Friday, Dec. 12, on the Salina and Manhattan campuses, and Saturday, Dec. 13, on the Manhattan campus. The university will award more than 1,350 bachelor’s degrees, nearly 400 master’s degrees, nearly 60 doctorates and 12 associate degrees. More than 200 students are earning their degree through K-State Global Campus distance education programs. Commencement ceremonies Dec. 12 include the Graduate School at 1 p.m. in Bramlage Coliseum. A firm date finally has been set for a listening tour involving possible impacts of Army reductions on Fort Riley. Governor’s Military Council Executive Director John Armbrust of Manhattan announced that date during KMAN’s “In Focus” Thursday morning. Armbrust says the tour has been rescheduled a couple of times–and while he doesn’t yet know the exact time or location, February 9th is the date.. From Kansas State Athletics Due to an opening created on its schedule by the cancellation of the final two games of the Hardwood Tournament of Hope in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Kansas State women’s basketball has added a game against William Jewell for Monday, Dec. 8. A status hearing has been set in Geary County District Court for a Fort Riley soldier facing charges of sexual exploitation of a child, rape, and aggravated sodomy.  James Henning, 40, was arrested last week by Junction City Police following a month long investigation involving distribution of child pornography. Henning had been set for a preliminary Wednesday but defense counsel asked for and was granted a continuance of the case for status only on December 30th.
