A Kansas City man’s jury trial started Tuesday with jury selection taking up the entire morning and into the afternoon. Anthony Nichols is accused of murdering John Burroughs, a Manhattan Country Club employee, between the 6th and 7th of September 2013. Burroughs was found dead on his bathroom floor in his residence, a result of one gunshot wound to the face and eight stab wounds to his body. Nichols has already been convicted in a Geary County murder that happened just days after the murder of Burroughs. Updated 11 a.m. Tuesday: The Riley County Police Department issued a press release late Tuesday morning regarding the case of missing Manhattan man…Robert Griffith. The department says police have not yet positively identified the body of a deceased male found inside a black Cadillac Escalade belonging to Griffith. An autopsy has been ordered and detectives will conduct a routine follow-up investigation. Officials have not yet determined a cause of death… but police do not suspect the public to be in any danger. As previously reported by KMAN, two large ongoing cases held appearances in Riley County District Court Monday. This includes Dontay Tabron and Anthony Brazzle. Dontay Tabron, the man charged in connection with a shooting incident in Aggieville in April was sentenced to 89 months in prison, followed by 36 months of post-release supervision. Tabron’s request for durational departure before his sentence was denied, and must now follow through with criminal registry.
