HOUSTON (AP)– Jose Altuve had three hits and scored the tiebreaking run in the seventh inning to help the Houston Astros complete a three-game sweep of the Kansas City Royals with a 6-5 win on Wednesday night. The game was tied at 5 in the seventh when Kelvin Herrera (1-2) plunked Altuve on the forearm. Altuve stole second and reached third on a lineout. Reports indicate that a Colorado girl thought to be headed to Kansas with an adult female has been found safe near the Kansas-Colorado state line in Northeast Colorado. The report says the woman who kidnapped five-year old Sidney Carlisle is under arrest. The Amber Alert issued for Carlisle has been cancelled.

During Wednesday’s monthly meeting, Manhattan/Ogden board members covered board elections, appointments, budget planning for the 2015-16 school year and Independence Day reminders. Each July, the board elects a President and Vice President for a year-long term serving the school board. OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (AP) Police in the Kansas City suburb of Overland Park, Kansas, say two people have died in a shooting. The ages and identities of the victims and details of the shootings have not been released. Officers who responded to the scene Tuesday evening say they found one victim injured in the street and a second person dead in a house nearby. The injured man later died at a hospital. Investigators say they are processing a “very large area” involving several crime scenes.
