Kansas State University is notifying 19 individuals who submitted applications for graduate programs in agronomy between 2010 and 2013 that some of their personal information may have been inadvertently exposed on the Internet. University information security staff was made aware of the issue on Aug. 22 and all files were immediately removed.   The data exposure was the result of an internal migration and not due to any hacking activity. KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) A woman accused of pretending to be pregnant to scam prospective adoptive parents in Kansas and elsewhere has notified the court she intends to change her plea. A court notation Tuesday shows 34-year-old Chrystal Marie Rippey, of Marshall, Texas, is scheduled for a change-of-plea hearing Sept. 17 before a federal magistrate judge in Kansas City, Kansas. Rippey was indicted in February on federal charges of mail and wire fraud. Defense attorney Thomas Bartee did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment. Terminal Expansion Project The Manhattan City Commission awarded a construction contract Tuesday to the Weitz Company, LLC of Lenexa for phase two of the Terminal Expansion Project at Manhattan Regional Airport. Even though the Cleveland Indians had a golden opportunity to help the Royals extend their lead in the AL Central, KC was able to stay in first place with a 2-1 win over the Texas Rangers on Tuesday night. The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Tuesday that the squad has signed veteran safety Kurt Coleman to help bolster a somewhat spotty secondary. Coleman is no stranger when it comes to Chiefs head coach Andy Reid. Coleman played for the Philadelphia Eagles under Reid for two seasons from 2010-2012 before Reid moved on to be the head man in KC. Coleman was released by the Minnesota Vikings at the end of August after spending the off-season working out with the team. Sources have told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that Denver Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker has been suspended four games for use of Amphetamines. According to sources, Welker tested positive after a sample was shortly taken after he attended the Kentucky Derby. Welker argued that the sample was tainted and he was able to attend his appeal hearing in mid August. The Broncos first four games of the season are against the Colts, Chiefs, Seahawks and Cardinals. A Manhattan man entered a plea the end of last week in Geary County District Court to two counts of aggravated indecent solicitation of a child. Trevor Triffet was arrested May 20th on the charges, with the victim identified as a 12-year-old female. Triffet’s sentencing is set for October 31st. Also the end of last week, a preliminary hearing was held in another case involving a child. William Cordray was bound over on six counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child.
