Jacquelyn Casteel, 38, was taken into custody while in the 600 block of Colorado Street at approximately 9:50 AM Tuesday. Original offenses associated with Casteel’s warrants were listed as theft by deception, driving while suspended/revoked, and other traffic related offenses. Bond was set at $7,000.

The Wamego City Commission swore in a newly elected commissioner at Tuesday’s meeting. City Attorney Jake Pugh administered the oath of office to newly elected Commissioner Tom Beem. Beem filled the unexpired term of Commissioner Larry Fechter, and ran for the position in the last election. The Commission continued the commission reorganization by electing Cliff Baughman as Mayor, and Dr. Bill Ditto as Mayor Pro Tem. On Tuesday the Federal district court officially brought charges on one of the suspects in the alleged Fort Riley bombing plot. Alexander Blair was formally charged with conspiracy to assist John T. Booker jr. in an attack on Fort Riley. U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom’s office released information which gives more details on the allegations Blair faces in the upcoming trial. The first reading of an ordinance for a project near the intersection of Claflin Road and Hylton Heights Road received approval from the Manhattan city commission on Tuesday night during their regular legislative session in city hall. The ordinance would rezone the proposed Noor Residence PUD from single family to a mixed-use planned development.
