A Wamego man charged in connection with last December’s shooting at Quality Inn and Suites has waived his preliminary hearing, which was to have been held Friday. Dustin Monroe, 34, is now set for arraignment on May 22nd. Monroe faces three counts of aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer, two counts of criminal discharge of a firearm into an unoccupied building and one count of criminal damage to property. A St. Mary’s man, already serving time for multiple burglaries, was sentenced Thursday for additional burglary charges.. Luke Linxwiler (35) appeared in Pottawatomie County District Court to receive his sentence. These cases occurred in April and May of last year, and involved Griffith Lumber and a site under construction in the industrial park in Pottawatomie County. Linxwiler will face 32 months, just over two and a half years, with the department of corrections for these cases. Linxwiler was sentenced back in February to nine years in prison for multiple previous burglaries in rural St.Mary’s and the city of St. Mary’s last summer. ——————— The…
In January, changes were made within the Riley County Treasurer’s office, as three employees took on additional duties. Now, three months later, those employees are still carrying out those tasks. For this reason, County Treasurer, Eileen King wishes to upgrade their positions to compensate for the extra work the clerk analysts have put in. During Thursday’s Riley County Commission meeting, King asked that commissioners approve moving the clerk analyst I positions to clerk analyst II positions.
