(A separate release is listed regarding a drug-related arrest) A Wichita man is hospitalized following a vehicle roll-over collision near the 1800 block of Claflin Road reported at approximately 5:20 Wednesday evening. Riley County Police responded to the scene and found that a 2006 Dodge Stratus driven by  Katie Jarvis, 25 of Manhattan had rolled onto its hood after a 1993 Ford F-150 collided with it. The Ford truck was driven by Steven Villalobos, 49, of Wichita. The collision occurred as the Dodge Stratus was turning east out of a parking lot and damage was created on the vehicle’s passenger side.…

A Manhattan teenager has been arrested for a variety of drug-related offenses. Riley County Police report Connor Yeager, 19, was taken into custody at about seven Wednesday evening as part of the ongoing investigation into the distribution of illegal narcotics in the Manhattan and Riley County area.This arrest took place in the 3200 block of Kimball Avenue. Yeager’s bond was set at $35,000, with charges including possession of marijuana and Xanax with intent to distribute, four counts of unlawful use of a telecommunication device, and three counts of distribution of marijuana. Updated 5 a.m. Thursday: Manhattan and Riley and Pottawatomie county road crews are out plowing and treating snowy roads. Thursday morning’s incident report from Riley county Police show at least four non-injury accidents since late Wednesday night. A spokesman with the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s office reports some slide-offs during the early morning hours. The Kansas Highway Patrol has no reports of accidents in area counties. ### At 11:00 p.m. the roads are very slick, but the winter equipment is out and clearing roads.  Several stuck vehicles were witnessed at this time, and this reporter advised using extreme caution when…

Manhattan High School Principal, Greg Hoyt was recently awarded North Central Kansas District Administrator of the Year.  This is a KMEA award which is given based off of letters of recommendation.  Northview Elementary School Music Teacher, Laurie Davis was also recognized by the KMEA as North Central Kansas Elementary Music Teacher of the Year. Three Kansas Department of Corrections Inmates with Riley County convictions are up for the next set of public comment sessions and possible parole.  Shakeer Davis, 35, was convicted in late 1997 of murder in the first degree, attempted murder, aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary. The February 28th shooting in Manhattan resulted in the death of Wanda Norman and the wounding of John Garner. Davis was 17-years-old at the time of the offense.
