Just three weeks after national signing day, K-State football has secured its first commitment for the 2015 recruiting class. Hays High quarterback Alex Delton accepted the only scholarship offered so far to a K-State recruit for 2015.  Delton announced the news via his Twitter account on Tuesday. The Manhattan City Commission examined the need for infrastructure improvements for General Aviation operations on east side of Manhattan Regional airport, during Tuesday night’s work session. The improvements center around the construction of a new General Aviation facility for Fixed Base Operations (FBO). The airport’s current FBO, Kansas Air Center, Inc., will privately fund the new facility; however the City will be responsible for developing the surrounding infrastructure including road access to the facility, parking, storm water drainage in the area, improvements to surrounding utilities and more. The Manhattan High basketball team was in action on Tuesday night inside the MHS gym for the final week of the regular season. The Hayden Wildcats were in town to start the final stretch of the regular season. The MHS girls (18-1) were trying to sweep the season series with Hayden after winning earlier in the season at Hayden 51-49. Update: 10:25 a.m. The Amber Alert that was issued Tuesday evening for Noemi Valazquez has been deactivated according to the website ksamber.org. The reason for the deactivation is that the missing Texas teenager and the man she’s believed to be with Juan Fabian Arenas Delacruz are no longer believed to be in Kansas. The alert was issued when the teenager’s cell phone was pinged Tuesday evening leading authorities to believe she was in the Lenexa area. Governor Sam Brownback visited Woodrow Wilson Elementary School Tuesday afternoon to present a special award to its students and staff. Principal Deb Nauerth expressed her gratitude and pride in her staff for recieving the Governor’s Achievment Award, saying “it was so exciting, we are elated at Woodrow Wilson. This is a team effort, and all of our faculty, staff, students and parents contributed to such an honorable recognition.” Only 62 schools in the state of Kansas recieved this award, and it is Woodrow Wilson Elementary’s first time getting such recognition.
