A Junction City man was taken into custody by Riley County Police on several warrants Thursday afternoon. Jason Oder, 32, was arrested at approximately 4:25 PM by police at the Riley County Police Department.   Oder was arrested on six motion to revoke probation warrants, with original offenses including operating a vehicle while declared to be a habitual violator, possession of stolen property, criminal damage to property, possession of methamphetamine, and driving while suspended or Revoked, no liability insurance and no registration.   Oder’s bond was set at $11,000.    ### A theft and making false writing case involving Waters True Value…

A Riley County Police official is getting national recognition. RCPD Administrative Captain Tim Hegarty has been inducted into the Evidence-Based Policing Hall of Fame. This nomination and induction comes after his role in forming what is now the department’ s use of evidence-based policing strategies. According to a news release from RCPD, Captain Hegarty’s work along with Dr. Susan Williams of Kansas State University, her department and members of the Riley County Police Department’s Patrol Division have afforded the community proof that intelligence lead policing can have a positive effect on area crime. Updated 6:30 a.m. Friday: FORT RILEY, Kan. (AP) The U.S. Army says budget cuts could mean the loss of thousands of soldiers and employees at Fort Riley and Fort Leavenworth. However,  fort officials say the report released Thursday is a worst-case scenario and the reductions aren’t likely to be as severe as predicted. The report indicates Fort Riley could lose 16,000 soldiers and civilian employees, with another 3,600 jobs related to the base also eliminated. Updated: 5:30 a.m. Friday: A 49-year-old Manhattan man died in  a truck/bicycle accident Thursday evening. Mark Jilka was riding a bicycle when he was struck from behind by a 2007 Dodge Pickup on K-177 shortly after 7 p.m.   According to the Kansas Highway patrol, the pickup, driven by Derik Kesler, 32, Rossville, was also southbound on the right shoulder when the accident occurred. The bicyclist came to rest in a west ditch, with the truck remaining on the shoulder. Sales tax numbers are in for the month of June.  The city collected $888,675, which is up from this month last year, which was at $834,877.  This month is also up from last month’s collections of $859,419. This June sales tax number is $37,101 more than expected, and $43,483 more than budgeted.
