The Manhattan City Commission approved the 2015 City/University Special Projects Request and Committee recommendation Tuesday. The four projects planned for 2015 include: -Intersection Improvements at 17th St. & Anderson Ave; and Bluemont Ave & North Manhattan Ave. Includes new pedestrian signals and crosswalks. Project cost: $107,000. -Safety Improvements on Denison Ave between Claflin Rd. and College Heights Rd. Project cost: $248,000. -Triangle Park Improvements. The Manhattan High softball team landed two players on the coaches All Centennial League team. Junior second baseman Lindsey Hageman was a first-team selection after leading the Indians in batting average (.408) during the league season. She only struck out once in Centennial League play and led the team in fielding chances. Another junior, outfielder Savannah Thaemert, was named to the second team. She hit .375, scored 15 runs and was second in the league in stolen bases, going 11 for 11 on stolen base attempts. Several drug-related arrests were reported in Junction City Monday. Taken into custody were Leilani Marazzo, 33, of Fort Riley, James Nelson, Anthony Thurman, and Mariah Elamin. Charges vary from sale to felony possession counts, with arrests from 1:45. until 10:30 p.m.   Marazzo, Nelson, and Thurman were Junction City Police arrests. Elamin was a Geary County Sheriff’s department arrest, involving sale of marijuana. Bond was set at five-thousand dollars.

LOUIS (AP) Danny Duffy worked six innings of one-hit ball and Alex Gordon homered to start a breakout three-run seventh for the Kansas City Royals in a 6-0 victory over the suddenly punchless St. Louis Cardinals on Monday night. The Royals had just two singles off Shelby Miller in a game that had been scoreless before they opened the seventh with four straight hits.
