During the afternoon hours on Monday, the Pottawatomie County Commission and the Waubunsee County Commission met in Wamego at the K-DOT building to discuss another possible solution to repairing the bridge. This time, representatives from Truesdell Corporation were in attendance. Before giving their presentation Mark LeMay and Kurt Clink requested a trip out to Belvue Bridge. About 25 individuals from each county gathered in vehicle and made their way to the bridge. KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) The Kansas City Royals have extended a qualifying offer to right-hander Ervin Santana, which means they would receive a compensatory draft pick if the free agent signs elsewhere. The qualifying offer this year was $14.1 million. Players have until Nov. 11 to accept. The Royals have expressed hope that they can bring back Santana, but he’s coming off a stellar season in which he went 9-10 with a career-best 3.24 ERA. K-State volleyball senior middle blocker Kaitlynn Pelger was tabbed Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week. Pelger tied the Big 12 high this season for kills in a three set match with 17 against Oklahoma on Sunday night. The Olathe native also had five digs, four blocks, and two aces. Pelger was named Big 12 player of the Week for the eighth time in her career, which is a K-State record. The Manhattan Parks and Rec Advisory Board held a reception for the final candidates competing for the department’s Director position, Monday evening at City Hall. The four finalists were selected following a nationwide search. An internal interview and extensive interview process was then held all-day Monday. During the reception, each candidate provided brief statements about their personal lives and career aspirations, followed by informal introductions and questions.
