A Manhattan man charged with first degree murder, four counts of attempted murder, and aggravated burglary, appeared in Riley County District Court Tuesday morning for a pre-trial. Mathew Wilson (34) is charged with the 1st degree premeditated murder of , Michael Lowery (22) in the early morning hours of April 7th of this year. Wilson also faces four 1st degree attempted murder charges. Prosecuting State Attorney, Barry Wilkerson filed a motion involving gruesome photographs. A man convicted of rape in Geary County more than 30 years ago has been released by the Kansas Department of Corrections. Ricky Perkins, 57, was sentenced in March of 1980 in connection with an August 1979 rape in Geary county. Perkins was paroled in June of 1992, but then was involved in a 1993 burglary in Harvey County and had been serving time on that since early 1994. Perkins was released last Thursday and is currently located in Sedgwick County, with his supervision level listed as high.
A fire KMAN previously reported on, has been ruled as an incendiary fire by investigators. The fire occurred early on the morning of August 22nd on the 700 block of Osage Street here in Manhattan. The result of the scene examination concluded that the fire originated on the front porch of the residence. After sufficient evidence was recovered from the fire, the investigation proved the fire was intentionally set. Fire investigators from Manhattan Fire Department are still working with the Riley County Police Department on this investigation. The K-State Police Department is investigating reports of an unknown male who had exposed himself to at least two individuals in the evening hours Sunday in the central area of campus. The subject was described as a white male 30-40 years of age 5’9-6’00 with a “husky build” wearing shorts and a t-shirt.
