The Junction City-Geary County Drug Operations Group, assisted by local law enforcement, executed a search warrant on 124 Adams Street in Junction City Tuesday, February 25th. The search warrant for the residence was obtained after an investigation by the Drug Operations Group, triggered by suspected methamphetamine distribution. Persons arrested include Currin Ayer, 26, Jennifer Holter, 33, Wilfried Meyer, 47, and Michael Meyer, 25. Charges include possession of methamphetamine, intent to distribute within 1000′ of a school, possession of drug paraphernalia, felony possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of hallucinogenic, possession of marijuana, criminal possession of a firearm and endangering a child.…

The Ukrainian parliament on Tuesday delayed the formation of a new government, reflecting political tensions and economic challenges following the ouster of the Russia-backed president. Parliament speaker Oleksandr Turchinov, who was named Ukraine’s interim leader after President Viktor Yanukovych fled the capital, said that a new government should be in place by Thursday, instead of Tuesday, as he had earlier indicated.

The Manhattan man charged in the armed robbery case at Dara’s Convenience Store, that took place late last year, will be sent to Larned for evaluation. This ruling was made during his status hearing, held Tuesday afternoon in Riley County District Court. Travis Bowman (22) appeared in court, via web cam, with his attorney, Phylemon Yau. Judge William Malcolm reminded Yow that he was waiting on an order to send Bowman to Pawnee Mental Health for a screening, to ensure competency to stand trial. A St. Mary’s man charged with second degree homicide and aggravated assault appeared in Pottawatomie County District Court Tuesday morning. Both of the charges against Pablo Gonzalez (21) involve an incident that took place on New Year’s Day this year. Levi Bishop (24), of Rossville, was a passenger in a vehicle with Gonzalez, and was found deceased inside the vehicle from a gunshot wound. Gonzalez appeared before Pottawatomie County District Court Judge, Jeff Elder and waived his right to a fast and speedy trial in 90 days. His week-long jury trial was set to begin on August 25th. …
Riley County Police and Manhattan Fire Department investigators are looking into suspicious fires reported early Tuesday morning. At approximately 2:10 AM, the two departments responded to a complaint of fire in the 800 block of Moro Street in Manhattan. When emergency crew arrived on scene they found a vehicle on fire. Approximately 5 minutes later another report of fire was received and officers responded to a stairwell at an apartment complex located at 801 Moro Street. Riley County police released more information Tuesday morning regarding a robbery at gunpoint in the 1500 block of Jarvis Drive KMAN news first told you about earlier in the morning. At 8:50 PM Monday the Riley County Police Department responded to that location after receiving a 911 call. The 21-year-old caller reported he and his roommate had been robbed at gunpoint by three males who had entered their home uninvited.
