The K-State women silenced the home crowd at Allen Fieldhouse with an astounding 21-0 lead right out of the gate, and then withstood a Jayhawk rally for a 76-68 victory in the Sunflower Showdown.  The Cats saw KU pull within two points twice in the second half, but held them off down the stretch. The Manhattan/Ogden USD 383 school board met for their winter retreat Wednesday evening at the Robinson Education Center.  Two topics were listed on the agenda for discussion, the first of which involved diversity. Student and employee demographic statistics were provided for each of the public schools.  67% of the district population, for the 2012-2013 school year, was white.  Hispanics ranked next with 12%, and African-Americans with 8%. As far as employee percentages, for the 2013-2014 school year:  88% of the employees within the district are white, 6% are hispanic, and 4% are African American. K-State will have to wait for the 2014 home opener. The Wildcats have canceled their series with Milwaukee this weekend due to weather concerns and will instead play three games in Abilene, Texas against Abilene Christian, Grand Canyon University and Missouri State. First up, K-State will play Grand Canyon University on Friday at 1:00. The Wildcats then play a doubleheader on Saturday, starting with an 11:00 a.m. first pitch against Grand Canyon followed by a 7:00 p.m. game against Missouri State. A lucky Manhattan resident has claimed the Super Kansas Cash jackpot from Monday night’s drawing.   According to a press release sent by Customer Liaison with the Kansas Lottery, Karie Lowe, the winner, who asked to remain anonymous, matched all numbers on a Quick Pick ticket to win a jackpot worth $563,881. Just three weeks after national signing day, K-State football has secured its first commitment for the 2015 recruiting class. Hays High quarterback Alex Delton accepted the only scholarship offered so far to a K-State recruit for 2015.  Delton announced the news via his Twitter account on Tuesday.
