The first of two interlocal agreements was brought before the Riley County Commission during their Thursday meeting. The agreement outlines the ability to share training opportunities with Fort Riley. The commission approved to sign the document, but hope to actually sign it in a public setting along with Fort Riley representatives. At 4 p.m. Thursday, Junction City Detectives arrested Larry Lamathis Anderson, 25, of Manhattan, and charged him with 1stDegree Murder, Aggravated Kidnapping and Conspiracy. Updated 11 a.m. Thursday– Wichita Police have made an arrest in the murder case involving former Kansas State student Daniel Flores. KWCH in Wichita has identified the suspect as Antwon Banks, 31. Wichita Police Lt. Todd Ojile says the arrest of the man suspected of killing Daniel Flores, 25, followed a Crime Stoppers tip and several interviews. He was arrested at about 10 Wednesday night in the 3900 block of North Woodlawn. AUGUSTA, Kan. (AP) The former director of a southeast Kansas Chamber of Commerce has been sentenced to a year’s probation for stealing more than $13,000 from the organization. The Butler County Times-Gazette reports that Kent Overaker must also pay full restitution and write a letter of apology under the sentence he received this week. Overaker was hired as director of the Augusta Chamber of Commerce in March 2012. He was arrested last August after chamber officials noticed discrepancies in the organization’s finances. SALINA, Kan. (AP) Police say a man whose relative had taken him to a Salina hospital for a mental evaluation crashed into three vehicles when he fled in a pickup truck. The Salina Journal reports that the 29-year-old Ottawa County man was apprehended by police Tuesday after the truck became struck in snow. Lt. TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) Kansas senators have advanced a bill shortening the time limits for inmates sentenced to death to complete their appeals to the state Supreme Court. The measure received first-round approval Wednesday on a voice vote. A second vote that would send the bill to the House is set for Thursday. Senate Vice President Jeff King says the bill is necessary to expedite justice and get the required automatic appeals through the Kansas Supreme Court.
