It’s that time of year again, and the tax center on Fort Riley will be open for military affiliated personnel on January 22nd at nine a.m.  The center will be located at building 7034 on Normandy drive. OIC Captain Sarah Green says the center will be open from nine a.m. to six p.m. Monday through Friday, and nine a.m. to one p.m. on Saturday.  Some of documents needed for processing include a social security card, driver’s license, and if possibe the previous year’s tax return. KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) Emergency crews have responded to a gasoline leak at a fuel distribution terminal in Kansas City, Kan. The Kansas City Star reports the gasoline spilled Sunday at the Magellan Midstream Partners petroleum terminal. No injuries were reported. Magellan spokesman Bruce Heine in Tulsa, Okla., says the spilled gasoline is being controlled in a containment area at the facility. He says the company reported a loss of 100 barrels of gasoline but that figure could change. The fuel leak occurred at a valve connected to an above-ground storage tank. TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) The former head of the housing authority in a small Kansas town has admitted stealing nearly $7,700 in federal funds. The U.S. Attorney’s office says Debra L. Savage (53), of Linn, pleaded guilty Friday to one count of theft from a federal program. Savage was the executive director of the housing authority in Linn, a north-central Kansas town of about 400 people in Washington County. In her plea, she admitted using a housing authority credit card for personal expenses of nearly $7,700 between December 2009 and December 2012. Savage faces maximum penalties of 10 years in prison…

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) The new guide for legislative interns at the Capitol does not contain proposed restrictions ranging from the amount of perfume and the number of earrings interns can wear. Numerous rules suggested last week for inclusion in the 2014 intern handbook by Rep. Peggy Mast, an Emporia Republican, were edited out. The Topeka Capital-Journal reports also removed from the document was a rule asserting “inappropriate” photographs and language had to be deleted from personal social media sites. KINGMAN, Kan. (AP) A south-central Kansas police chief who was under investigation by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation has resigned. Kingman city officials announced Thursday that Marc Holloway (37) resigned Jan. 3. The city had asked the KBI in October to investigate Holloway and he was placed on administrative leave in November. The city officials and KBI have refused to discuss what prompted the investigation. KBI special agent in charge Mark Malick said the KBI has completed the investigation. WICHITA, Kan. (AP) Wichita police say a suspect has been arrested in a fatal hit-and-run involving a bicyclist. Kristina R. Brown (39) died Thursday when she was hit from behind by a truck while riding her bike in southeast Wichita. A man who was riding his bike with her was not injured. Police say a witness followed the truck as it drove away and was able to provide police with information that led to the driver. The truck belonged to a tree trimming service and the business owner helped police locate the driver. A 35-year-old man was booked into jail…
