A Fort Riley woman has been indicted on a charge of unlawful possession of a dangerous weapon with intent to do bodily harm. That’s according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom’s office Thursday, which indicates Kathy Rivera allegedly committed the crime this past January on the Fort Riley military installation. If convicted, Rivera faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000. Fort Riley Police investigated the case. No further details were available.
Governor Sam Brownback was in Manhattan today on the campus of Kansas State University to announce his three new appointees to the Kansas Board of Regents. Shane Bangerter, Ann Brandau-Murguia, and Helen Van Ettan will replace three outgoing board members, and each will serve a four year term. Brownback expressed confidence in his appointees saying “Shane, Ann, and Helen bring a great amount of experience and talent to the board and I am excited they’ve agreed to serve our great state”. The final college baseball polls were all released on Thursday, and the Cats are ranked in the top 15 of all five polls. Baseball America tabbed K-State #13 in its final top 25.
