Riley County Police say a Manhattan retail store is out thousands of dollars in merchandise following a recent theft. Officers were called out Friday afternoon to Ross Dress for Less after an unknown woman left with about $2,000 worth of unpaid merchandise. A suspect in the case has not yet been determined. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers.
Officers filed a report of felony theft in the 400 block of Poyntz Ave. on May 10,2o24, at approximately 12:50 PM. Officers listed Ross Dress for Less as the victim when it was reported an unknown female left the store with approximately $2,000 worth of merchandise for which she did not pay. Westmoreland Mayor Mark Jack recently updated the relief efforts taking place in Pottawatomie County. He said that city council has not yet decided on how to disperse the raised funds, but noted the council will soon be meeting with local groups and individuals for input. (AP) — Kansas could soon offer up to $5 million in grants for schools to outfit surveillance cameras with artificial intelligence systems that can spot people carrying guns. Just before midnight on Friday, the contents in a metal shed at the home of Calvin and Carolyn Dishman caught fire. Calvin Dishman says he was fighting the fire with a garden hose and believed he had it mostly contained as First Responders arrived on scene at 4721 McIntyre Road. The property, which is located off Tuttle Cove Road just west of Tuttle Creek Lake, contains a 3-bedroom house, and several outbuildings.
