A report for theft was filed Monday morning in the 2100 block of Mackintosh Ct, after three gold watches were reported stolen. RCPD says a 63-year-old man reported a 29-year-old man took the watches while helping move items into a moving truck. The estimated total loss is about $5,200. — Authorities are also investigating an incident of apparent vandalism at Blue Earth Plaza, reported Monday morning. RCPD says an unknown suspect damaged the Epoxy pebble flooring of the water area in the plaza. Damage was estimated at $5,000. Police have no suspects in the case. Anyone with information is asked…

With a little more than a week until the filing deadline for the November general election, more names are emerging in the race for Manhattan City Commission. The Riley County Clerk’s Office noted Monday that Rosemary Crumly-Loucks filed for a seat on the commission Monday morning. She becomes the fourth person to officially file and fifth overall candidate for a seat on the commission, joining incumbents Mark Hatesohl and John Matta, as well as Peter Oppelt and Rafael Rodriguez Jr. The filing deadline is June 1. The general election is Nov. 7.

A Manhattan man was arrested over the weekend on a warrant for probation violation. Riley County Police say the warrant against 36-year-old Brian Cottrell stems from an original charge of interference with law enforcement. During his arrest Friday, police say Cottrell was found to be in possession of marijuana, meth, opiate pills and drug parphernalia. He remains jailed on a $16,000 bond.

Two individuals, aged 30 and 43, were charged Friday with criminal trespass following separate incidents reported at their respective homes. According to RCPD, both men were considered victims and suspects. The younger man reportedly visited the older man’s home and intentionally urinated on the other’s internet router. In response, police say the older man threatened the younger man with a brick. Both were cited for their involvement. No additional details were disclosed by police.

A Manhattan man was arrested Saturday after a domsetic incident. RCPD says a 31-year-old woman reported she was attacked by the suspect, 30-year-old Tony Hoover, shortly before 5 p.m. Officers arrested Hoover on two Riley County warrants for failure to appear, stemming from an original charge of burglary and probation violation stemming from original charges of aggravated burglary and possession of stolen property. Hoover also had two Manhattan Municipal Court warrants for driving while suspended and a motion to revoke parole for theft. He remains jailed on a $14,750 bond.

A Manhattan business was burglarized Friday after police reported more than $13,000 worth of items were stolen. Energy Center Manhattan Pool was listed as the victim. RCPD says numerous items were stolen, including pumps, filters, valves, a ladder deck and a spa vacuum. The business also reported five vehicles had their catalytic converters removed, causing an estimated $6,000 in damage. It’s unknown if the two crimes are related.
