Wednesday brought another Manhattan Ogden school board meeting and a few items to discuss. The only new business item on the agenda was to take action on the facility use fees, which Dave Colburn, board member, encouraged the administration to possibly looking into an increase for next year that would help to recoup some of the costs that go into renting the facilities. The board passed the fee increase with a 6-0 vote. The annual transportation report was also given the to board during their meeting. The U.S. Senate on Wednesday evening voted 81-18 Wednesday evening to raise the debt limit put an end to the 16-day Federal Government Shutdown. Kansas’ two U.S. Senators, both Republican voted on opposite sides. Voting to end the shutdown was U.S. Senator Jerry Moran of Manhattan. The Junction City Police Department arrested a juvenile suspect Wednesday in connection with a dozen residential burglaries in the south part of the city. Detectives developed a possible suspect on Tuesday. After surveillance was set up, the suspect was observed walking behind a house in the 200 block of South Eisenhower. As Officers approached, the suspect had just gained entry to a residence. After a short foot chase, a seventeen year old male visiting from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida was taken into custody. A search warrant was executed at his temporary residence, and numerous items believed to be stolen were collected.…
