A suspect was arrested for a robbery that occurred early Friday morning. At about 2:20 am in the 700 block of North 11th, Kirk Porter, 25, of Manhattan reported he was robbed. According to the Riley County Police, Porter had his credit card taken by an unknown suspect and when he confronted the suspect there was a physical altercation. After an investigation, police arrested 22 year old Clinton Schriner, 22, of Manhattan. After being named honorable all-America by the Associated Press earlier this week, K-State senior guard Brittany Chambers has been named a second team Senior CLASS all-American.  An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS organization focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. NEW YORK (AP)   Pierre Jackson had his fourth straight double-double with 17 points and 10 assists to lead Baylor to the first National Invitation Tournament title in school history with a 74-54 win over Iowa on Thursday night. Cory Jefferson scored 23 points and Isaiah Austin had 15 points and nine rebounds for the Bears (23-14), who reached the tournament final five years ago, but never had won it before. CHICAGO (AP)   Jeremy Guthrie struck out nine and gave up one run in six innings, and the Kansas City Royals snapped a two-game losing streak to start the season, beating the Chicago White Sox 3-1 Thursday afternoon. Guthrie (1-0) scattered five hits and walked one for Kansas City, which took its first lead of the season with three runs in the fifth inning and made it stick. TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) The Kansas House has sent Gov. Sam Brownback a bill making it legal to own switchblades and stiletto-type knives. The vote was 95-26 on Thursday, a day after the measure cleared the Senate. The Wichita Eagle reports switchblades and stilettos would still be banned at schools, jails and juvenile corrections facilities Some House Democrats expressed concerns. Jim Ward, a former Wichita prosecutor, said switchblades were banned decades ago because they were used mostly by gangs and criminals.
