City officials are focused on upgrading their online technology. The city’s enterprise resource planning system, or ERP, serves as the financial operating system for the city, and Assistant Manhattan City Manager Jared Wasinger says it has room for improvement. Improvements will include easier access to building permits, utility billing, and online business with the city. Residents should see the change sometime later this year.
The City of Manhattan is ramping up to do major construction on the intersection of Kimball and Denison. Currently the city is doing lots of utility work on water lines in order to avoid a decreased capacity of water services, especially at K-State. WACO, Texas (K-State Athletics) – #4 K-State got defensive in the second half to pick up the program’s second-ever win in Waco, 58-55, over #13 Baylor at Foster Pavilion on Monday night. The win was K-State’s first in Waco since February 8, 2003. This was K-State’s 13th straight victory, the longest winning streak for the Wildcats since the 2008-09 team won 14 consecutive games to begin the season. The Manhattan City Commission will hold a work session Tuesday to discuss economic development and housing incentives. The community development staff will also lead a discussion on strategies and funding opportunities for new local work force housing. Assistant City Manager Jared Wasinger previewed the conversation following Monday’s intergovernmental luncheon. The city had previously conducted a housing market analysis that concluded there was not enough housing stock for medium income households. The work session begins at 6 p.m. in City Hall.
One person was hospitalized following a Friday crash in South Manhattan. RCPD responded to an injury accident around 3 p.m. involving three vehicles at the intersection of 4th Street and Fort Riley Boulevard in Manhattan. Yolanda Broyles-Gonzalez, 74, was transported for non life-threatening injuries and Joshua Lewy, 42, was cited for following too close.
Marissa Montiel, 28, was also arrested in Manhattan on Sunday around 4 a.m. after officers responded to a domestic situation. It was reported that Montiel struck a 24-year-old male multiple times and used her cell phone as a weapon as well as struck a 27-year-old female. In addition to domestic battery, Montiel was arrested for driving under the influence. She was issued a total bond of $5,000 and was still confined as of Monday morning.
