A competitive first half turned into a nightmarish second half as things got away from the Kansas State Wildcats during the 10th annual Battle in Seattle. Kelly Olynyk led three Gonzaga players in double figures as the 14th-ranked Bulldogs used an 8-0 run to begin the second half while pulling away from K-State 68-52 Saturday night at Key Arena. HARVEYVILLE, Kan. (AP) A Harveyville resident has compiled a book with the stories of people who survived the tornado that hit the small Kansas community in February. The EF2 tornado cut a 150-yard swath through Harveyville on Feb. 28, injuring 14 people and killing one resident. The Topeka Capital-Journal reports that Debbie Roberts, whose home was destroyed, has put together a book called “Heart of Harveyville: Surviving the Tornado!” a 162-page collection of survivors’ stories. WICHITA, Kan. (AP) Two people who were in a speeding car that crashed in Wichita abandoned a 20-year-old woman who suffered a broken neck and other serious injuries in the crash. Wichita police say the woman was thrown from the passenger seat of the speeding vehicle when the driver apparently lost control and crashed into a concrete wall and a tree Saturday. Police Sgt. Scott Brunow told The Wichita Eagle that alcohol was found in the car. He says the woman suffered “numerous broken bones” in addition to the neck injury and was taken to a hospital, where she was…

    The ground shook as the explosion began that would bring the Dev Nelson Press Box to the ground. On Saturday, December 15, the 20 year life of the press box came to an end. As construction efforts for the new facility are moving forward, the current box needed to come down quickly.  Therefore, the implosion was scheduled. A pair of Lee’s Summit West (MO) High School teammates have committed to play football at K-State, according to Rivals.com.  Four-star linebacker Nick Ramirez originally gave Missouri his verbal, but decommitted to the Tigers last month.  He is the #3 player in the state of Missouri and the #12 inside linebacker nationally according to the Rivals’ rankings.  The six foot, one inch, 228-pound Ramirez picked K-State over offers from Nebraska, Illinois, Iowa, Colorado, Northwestern and Purdue.
