A report came in on Thursday, that two unknown suspects entered the Sunshine Laundry, located at the 1800 block of N. Jackson Street, in Junction City, and using some type of key or device to open the change machines. The two suspects, a white male and a white female, gained access and removed an unknown amount of currency. If anyone can identify either suspect please contact the Junction City Police Department at 785-762-5912.

Rock Creek’s School Board has its first candidate filing. Mark Caffrey is trying for Position Five in the USD 323 district. Caffrey tells KMAN he’s lived in the school district since 1990 and has a high school daughter who is a sophmore, having started in Westmoreland Elementary school. Caffrey adds he’s served on a committee regarding the last bond issue, which passed. And he indicates it’s his turn to serve the public school system, which he strongly supports. The #25 K-State men’s basketball team will take the floor for the first time since they knocked off then #8 Florida last Saturday night at the Sprint Center in Kansas City. The Cats will host UMKC at Bramlage Coliseum, who’s 4-8 this season with losses at Ohio State and Louisville. Four tires and four rims were taken out of the back of a truck in the parking lot of Tires for Less located at the 1400 block of Fort Riley Boulevard sometime between December 26 and 27. Earlier this morning, KMAN received information that westbound I-70 was shut down near mile marker 318 as a result of a vehicle hitting a deer and becoming engulfed in flames. Riley County Police report that the occupants of the vehicle each exited the car safely and there are no major injuries. Police were diverting traffic to K99.
