A Florida man was killed early Sunday morning in a single-vehicle crash along U.S. Highway 77 in Geary County. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 2:13 a.m. on May 25 near mile marker 157.9, close to the intersection of U.S. 77 and Old Milford Road. Authorities say a 2020 Ford Fusion was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed when it veered into the east ditch, continued moving forward, and struck a tree. RCPD responded to 10 incidents over the weekend, including an injury accident at the intersection of Leavenworth Street and N. 4th Street in Manhattan. Other reports included two larceny cases, a juvenile-related issue at Eisenhower Rec Center, and two reports involving unwanted subjects. Detectives with the Riley County Police Department arrested a Manhattan man Friday morning on multiple drug-related charges. Donald Ince, 46, was taken into custody around 11:20 a.m. on May 23 in the 700 block of N. 11th Street. His arrest stems from a Riley County District Court warrant listing several felony charges, including unlawful acts involving proceeds from a drug transaction, unlawful distribution of marijuana, two counts of unlawful distribution of cannabinoids, and unlawful manufacture or possession of a controlled substance using a communication device. The Riley County Police Department responded to a series of incidents and made six arrests between May 23 and the early morning of May 24, according to RCPD. One of the most serious events occurred at 2448 Hobbs Drive in Manhattan, where police responded to a robbery and multiple domestic battery cases. Maria Isabel Aponte, 29, and Carlos James Aponte Rivera, also 29, were both arrested in connection with the incident. A Manhattan man was arrested Thursday evening by Riley County Police Department for charges including rape, kidnapping and blackmail. Officers arrested Henrry Josue Mendrano Tellez, 33, on Thursday at 11:15 p.m. at the McDonalds in Westloop Place for rape, aggravated assault, aggravated sexual battery, kidnapping, blackmail with a video, photo, file or image and aggravated endangering a child. On May 23, 2025, at approximately 12:44 a.m., an officer filed a report of interference with a law enforcement officer in the 2000 block of Tuttle Creek Blvd. The officer reported that he attempted to arrest a 35-year-old female on an outstanding warrant for her arrest.
