Riley County officials recognized two local residents for their service to the county. On Monday, Commission vice-chair Greg McKinley presented retiring planning board members Diane Hoobler and Nathan Larson with certificates of appreciation for their years of service. Planning Director Amanda Webb spoke about both of their contributions, which combined spanned nearly two decades. The pair have been instrumental in shaping land use planning efforts within Riley County, according to a Monday statement. Local residents flocked to Tuttle Creek swim beach on Saturday to brave the elements and take part in the annual Polar Plunge fundraiser.
