Manhattan City Commissioners Tuesday voted 4 to 1 to amend an Economic Development Agreement with housing development and management firm The Prime Company. That’s Commissioner Usha Reddi. The city in 2021 approved the agreement with The Prime Company, officially Elsey Holdings LLC, providing a 65 thousand dollar grant if it meets certain requirements – including hiring 13 full time employees and constructing a new HQ in Manhattan. With city approval, the amendment removed the requirement to build a new facility as they instead plan to renovate a building at 2101 Vanesta Place for that purpose. The agreement still nets the…
Manhattan City Commissioners Tuesday approved an ordinance setting regulations and fees for the Aggieville Parking garage starting in January – though an amendment setting hour limits will return for commission approval later this year. That’s Aggieville Business Association Executive Director Dennis Cook. Plans approved on first reading set a tentative parking price of 2 dollars per hour after the first hour – which is free. After requests by Aggieville representatives at that meeting, commissioners questioned the financial impact of increasing the free parking time in the garage – which came in at 53 thousand dollars per year per additional hour.…

The injured girl’s family had opposed the plea deal. Circuit Judge Charles H. McKenzie sentenced Reid on Tuesday…

(AP) – A plan to search for unmarked graves at a former Native American boarding school in Kansas is on hold amid a disagreement between a Shawnee Tribe and state and city officials overseeing the site. The Kansas Historical Society announced last year that the Kansas Geological Survey at the University of Kansas would conduct a ground-penetrating radar survey at the Shawnee Indian Mission in Fairway. However, Fairway officials last week said the proposal was on hold indefinitely after Shawnee Tribe Chief Ben Barnes raised concerns that the tribe was not consulted about the proposal and future plans for the 12-acre (4.86-hectare)…
