Riley County Police noted a pair of battery incidents over the weekend in Aggieville that required hospital trips. Police say a fight Saturday night between a 23-year-old man and a 32-year-old man resulted in the latter being transported to Ascension Via Christi by EMS, after he was found unconscious by officers in front of Tubby’s Bar. No charges were filed by the victim transported to the hospital. The Manhattan City Commission will hold a discussion this evening regarding questions being drafted for candidates applying to be on the Riley County Law Board. Five questions have been drafted so far, asking candidates their knowledge and experience with reviewing, approving and overseeing a multi-millon dollar public sector operating budget, experience on boards that collectively supervise an agency director related to law enforcement, and policy issues related to law enforcement the candidate would like to see reviewed or explored. Pottawatomie County commissioners approved a second cost of living adjustment for its employees Monday. The move will give county employees an overall 10 percent boost in thier COLAs after the commission OK’d a 3.5 percent increase in July. The county deferred any additional increases to see if inflation concerns would diminish. County Administrator Chad Kinsley noted department heads began tightening their belts to ensure they could take on the adjustment for the remainder of the year. (AP) — Kansas’ top elections official warned voters Monday that text messages from outside the state were giving them incorrect information about where to vote, but groups involved in the texting said they weren’t trying to confuse or mislead people. Several Democrats said they began hearing about the texts Sunday or had received them. The Riley County Law Board has named Brian Peete as the new director for the Riley County Police Department in a 7-0 vote at a special meeting Monday. That was Riley County Law Board Vice Chair Robert Ward. Board Chair Linda Morse said that Monday’s special meeting served as a simply decision announcement, and there are more details that need to be worked out before Peete officially begins work. (Kansas State Athletics) – For a third time this season Kansas State had a pair of players earn weekly honors from the conference, as junior quarterback Will Howard was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week and senior punter/kicker Ty Zentner earned Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week accolades, the conference office announced Monday.
