NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Tulane athletic director Troy Dannen took calls from three bowl game representatives this week. He anticipates a near-capacity crowd at 30,000-seat, on-campus Yulman Stadium when Memphis visits the 25th-ranked Green Wave on Saturday. That’s a stark change from one year ago, when Tulane was laboring through a 2-10 season in which seemingly everything went wrong. “The position we were in at this time last year, it wasn’t great. It wasn’t fun,” third-year Tulane quarterback Michael Pratt said. “Any time you face adversity, you can either go one of two directions. And I think the steps that…
TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Kris Kobach, the Kansas Republican who helped lead Donald Trump’s short-lived presidential voter fraud commission, wants to rid his state of ballot drop boxes and says as he runs for attorney general that discounting talk of fraud is “ignoring reality.” The expanded use of drop boxes for mailed ballots in 2020 didn’t lead to any widespread problems, according to an Associated Press survey of state election officials across the U.S. that revealed no cases of fraud, vandalism or theft that could have affected the results. And Kobach’s position puts him at odds not only with Democrats and voting-right advocates, but…

The Manhattan-Ogden School Board will consider a real estate property purchase near the College Hill Early Childhood Education Center, when it meets Wednesday evening. Prior to construction at the school, the district had sought to purchase some of the neighboring properties but was unsuccessful. The shape and layout of the site led the district to construct a playground directly south of the school near the heavily traveled Kimball Avenue. The district notes in the agenda material that the property owner at 2606 Margot Lane, north of College Hill, has agreed to sell. The district, if successful would intend to use…
