On Friday, Sal Tucker, 47, was driving his green, 1991, Ford F150 with a trailer, westbound on Fort Riley Boulevard. At one point, one of the wheels on the trailer left the road and got stuck in mud and clay causing the trailer and truck to flip over and block both lanes of traffic. Tucker was transported to Mercy Regional Health Center with shoulder and torso pain. He was treated and released. The Riley County Police Department believe alcohol is to be a factor.

1.)  A series of aggravated burglaries in the Eugenie Field area are causing eyebrows to raise both at the Riley County Police Department and for local residents. The string of incidents started Thursday between the hours of 9 p.m. and 9 a.m.  Sheila, 76, and  Joseph Mills, 78, reported to the RCPD that their screen window had been slashed at 1723 Fairview Ave. Nothing was missing from the home. About 400 motorcyclists participated in the Governor’s Flint Hills Freedom ride, which began at the Statehouse and ended up in Wamego Saturday afternoon. Governor Sam Brownback tells KMAN it was a fun way to raise money for some good causes. An estimated $50,000  was raised for three causes as part of Governor Sam Brownback’s Flint Hills freedom ride Saturday. The event started at the State Capital, with a stop in Alma, and ending in Wamego. In addition to raising money, the Governor says the ride is another effort to draw attention to tourism. Fire caused considerable damage to a garage belonging to the city of Manhattan Sunday. $43,300 damage to the structure and contents is reported to the garage at 5166 Wildcat Creek Road, which was fully involved when firefighters arrived shortly before noon. Damaged in the fire were a garage on the property, another garage on an adjacent property, a 1996 Crownline boat, a 2000 Coleman Bayside Elite camper, various tools, a lawnmower, and go-kart. Manhattan, Riley County, and Fort Riley fire departments responded. The cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no injuries reported.

Not satisfied with being the first former K-State Wildcat to play in the US Open in a quarter century, Aaron Watkins stayed in contention the entire way.  The 29-year old Nationwide tour player made the cut on Friday, which Jim Colbert last did in 1984, and didn’t fade on the weekend.  Watkins shot a 2-over-par 72 on Saturday, and a 1-over-par 71 on Sunday to finish at +6 for the tournament.  He tied for 15th place in his first major, five shots behind eventual winner Webb Simpson. With nine holes to play, the first annual Colbert Charity Classic looked like it would go to a former K-Stater.  Robert Streb led the first Adams Golf Pro Tour Series event by three shots at Colbert Hills on Saturday going into the back nine.  That’s when Jimmie Marshall, a native Canadian, would take over.  Marshall eagled the 10th hole, and then proceeded to birdie six straight holes to finish with an 8-under par 28 coming in at Colbert Hills.  He won the tournament at 16-under par, three shots ahead of Streb, who finished at 13-under.  Marshall earned a $20,000 paycheck from the Adams…

LOUIS (AP)   Yuniesky Betancourt hit a two-run homer with two outs in the 15th inning, lifting the Kansas City Royals a 5-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday.  Betancourt had put the Royals ahead in the 14th with an RBI double but closer Jonathan Broxton (1-1) failed to hold the lead.  Down to their last strike in the ninth, Billy Butler homered for the Royals to tie it.   Jarrod Dyson began 15th inning with a bunt single off St. Louis reliever Eduardo Sanchez (0-1).
