A man who was critically injured by an EF2 tornado that struck Harveyville, Kan., Tuesday evening has died at a Topeka hospital. Richard D. Slade, 53, was airlifted to Stormont-Vail Emergency and Trauma Center in Topeka Tuesday night after being pulled from the wreckage of his home. He remained in critical condition and the decision was made Wednesday afternoon to take him off life support. Slade passed away Wednesday evening. The Indians scored 16 of the 18 points in the first quarter, and led the Buffaloes 30-8 at halftime. MHS girls coach Scott Mall says the Tribe played with the proper intensity from the start. SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) Top prospect Luis Mendoza will start for the Kansas City Royals in their spring training opener on Sunday against the Texas Rangers. Mendoza led the Pacific Coast League with a 2.18 ERA last year. He is scheduled to work two innings, while right-handers Sean O’Sullivan, Vin Mazzaro and Nate Adcock are also scheduled to pitch. A bizarre early morning break-in led to a Manhattan man under psychiatric care early Tuesday. According to Riley County police Lt. Josh Kyle, RCPD received a call just after 4:30 a.m. Tuesday regarding an attempted break-in. Officers responded to the source of the call, but later discovered the suspect coated in blood screaming out suicidal comments near the intersection of University and Claflin. The 21-year old man was eventually tasered and taken into police custody. The man was looking at aggravated burglary, criminal damage to property, and DUI charges, but police have since turned the subject over to Mercy Regional Health Center for a…

It’s every Kansan’s nightmare; a surprise tornado ripping through town in the dark of night. That’s exactly what happened to the Wabaunsee county community of Harveyville Tuesday night. After the EF-2 tornado destoryed 40 percent of the town, Riley County Police Director Brad Schoen received a call from Wabaunsee County asking for any assistance they could give. “For the next two days, we’re going to have six people on at a time in three different shifts of eight hours apiece,” Schoen told KMAN. “Just to help them get a handle on things, begin the recovery process, and ensure public safety.”…
