MANHATTAN, Kan. (Kansas State Athletics) – Kansas State head coach Jerome Tang continued the process of building his first team on Friday morning (June 24) with the signing of graduate transfer Abayomi “Baybe” Iyiola (Ibadan, Nigeria/ Greenforest-McCalep Christian Academy (Ga.)/Stetson/Arkansas/Hofstra) to a Financial Aid Agreement with the program for the 2022-23 season. Maryville, MO (Northwest Missouri State Athletics) – Two-time NCAA Division II player of the year Trevor Hudgins has signed a two-way deal with the National Basketball Association’s Houston Rockets.  Manhattan native Hudgins becomes the first Northwest Missouri State University men’s basketball player to sign an NBA contract. KANSAS CITY — The Royals announced Friday that Salvador Perez will have surgery to repair the ulnar collateral ligament on his left thumb after the catcher reaggravated the injury earlier this week. Perez is expected to return to play this season. Perez was sidelined in May with a left thumb sprain after he injured his thumb while swinging. He returned after 10 days and served as the Royals’ primary catcher for a month before he felt the same injury again on Tuesday in Anaheim. The Supreme Court has overturned the Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion throughout the U.S and puts the decision to the states to decide rules governing access to the procedure. An 18 year old was arrested in Manhattan early Thursday morning after being found in possession of a stolen gun. Ryan Tierney was taken into custody in the 1800 block of Anderson Avenue just after 2:30 a.m. He’s charged with a trio of crimes including possession of stolen property, criminal carry of a concealed weapon and violation of his juvenile probation. Tierney was arrested in 2021 on a charge of aggravated arson at the age of 17, when he was accused of setting a trash can on fire during school hours at Manhattan High West. Riley County Police arrested a woman in Manhattan Wednesday after she is alleged to have attempted to drive off with a vehicle parked at the west side Taco Bell. 36-year-old Andrea Freeman was taken into custody after 7 p.m. Wednesday outside of the Taco Bell on Westport. She’s been charged with two counts of theft of property as well as obstruction and criminal trespassing. The car was ultimately returned to the owner.
