A dedication ceremony is planned Friday for the Tracz Family Band Hall, located in the northwest corner of World War I Memorial Stadium at Kansas State University. Donors and patrons for the project, along with members of the Tracz family and The Pride of Wildcat Land will be in attendance. The event is open to the public and parking is available in the D1 lot adjacent to the band hall on Denison Ave. Friday’s dedication ceremony is scheduled for 2 p.m.

The Be Able Community Center was mostly business-as-usual on Labor Day. The difference was a Monday BBQ. Executive Director Scott Voos says being available on holidays is important. Voos says, with other businesses and organizations closed today, it’s important to provide the support and fellowship…which often includes food. Voos says they usually have a BBQ on Fridays, but wanted to honor the occasion with an extra BBQ. Nebraska (5-0), the nation’s leader in opponent hitting percentage, used 12.0 team blocks to limit K-State (4-1) to its lowest output on the season in kills (31), hitting percentage (.056), and assists (30). Kansas State’s offense scored touchdowns on seven of its first eight possessions and its defense held SEMO to under a yard rushing per attempt in the opening 30 minutes as the Wildcats cruised to a 45-0 win to open the 2023 season. (K-State Athletics) – Kansas State put on a show in front of a capacity crowd of 3,044 fans at the inaugural game of Morgan Family Arena on Friday night, as the Wildcats defeated Omaha in straight sets (25-21, 25-23, 25-23). Eric Meyer, owner and editor of the Marion County Record newspaper, stopped by the A.Q. Miller School of Media and Communication on Friday to discuss the aftermath and implications of the August 11th raid of the Record’s newsroom. Meyer provided background on the incident, which many consider a First Amendment violation. He said raids like this are virtually non-existent. Meyer noted one significant takeaway from this incident is that journalism is a voice for the people, and no one wants it to be silenced.
